Welcome to Deep Dyed Yarns an online store dedicated to bringing you artisanal dyed vibrant and wild colors on the best yarn and fibers for your knitting, spinning and fiber craft needs.  Deep Dyed Yarns is a one woman show from the washing to the carding to the dying to the... Well, you get the idea. So please keep in mind there might be a few 'no-ship' dates which will be during festivals and those dates can be found on the Blog HERE.

I do have a cat and he comes to the studio during the Fiber Gathering to visit with his court of knitters, crocheters, felters , and spinners.  He normally ignores the yarns and fibers and in the event he does not, they are offered as Furbee’s Specials.

ABOUT THE YARNS

The yarns are hand-dyed in small artisanal batches or one at a time and washed afterwards to remove excess dye and dye residues.  This creates a richness of color and slight variations from skein to skein.  It is recommended for larger projects to alternate skeins when knitting.  For example:  If knitting a flat garment, work two rows with one ball and then work two rows with the second ball.  If knitting in the round, work one row with one ball and the second row with the second ball.  This will prevent pooling, or even out any variations between skeins.

There is a physical location in Nicholasville, KY and I welcome appointments.  Please do come on in, sit, spin, knit, felt, weave, hang out a while, and enjoy some good old southern hospitality.    It sure would be wonderful if your fabulous knitting (crocheting, weaving, spinning, etc) soul or group would stop by if you are in the area.

ABOUT ME

Hello everyone!  I am Stephanie, the mad dyer of Deep Dyed Yarns.

The obsession with fiber started way back in 1997 while sitting next to a delightful woman on a British Airways flight from London Heathrow to NYC who was knitting a baby blanket. I asked a few questions, came home, bought yarn, and taught myself to knit through many, many trials and tribulations!

After many years and quite a few terrible finished objects, the needles and yarn finally clicked. Which spurred an interest in how yarns was made.  A drop spindle was bought and then a wheel.  A plethora of yarns were made.  Such a plethora there was no way little old me could knit them all!  Yarns were stacking up in the corners and had to find new homes where they would be loved, used, and cherished. They were listed online and to my delight...  ALL SOLD!

I bought more fiber, taught myself to dye it then spun it all up, and thought maybe, just maybe people might like to buy fiber too.  This got me to thinking perhaps I should try to add mill spun yarn to the lineup.  From there it all kind of snow balled and I am so grateful for everyone who has supported me throughout the years.  Y’all really have helped mold me into the person I find myself today.  I cannot thank each and everyone of you enough💗💗💗

In a previous life, I was LunabudKnits.  A combination of 2 dogs Names, Luna on the left and Buddy on the right.
